The Edamalayar forests and the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary are famous for the numerous birds and is along the mighty Periyar river. The birds, the air and the calm breeze lifts you and rejuvenates your body & mind. Spread around an area of 25 sq km, this sanctuary has more than 200 varieties of birds which include the large falcon, grey jungle fowl, white breasted water hen, hornbill etc. Hike near Bhoothathankettu dam and kayak in the Periyar river along the border of bird sanctuary.

We meet at Fort Kochi and get ready for a short transfer away from the busy town. Bikes all out an adventure into the wild beckons you along the beautiful canals of the small hamlet north-east of Cochin town.
Biking along the beautiful stretch of long interspersed canals we pass banana, coconut and teak plantations. The route goes on and on until we notice the green clad hills of the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary. The birds’ chirp all along supplements nature’s beauty and the cool breeze rejuvenates your body and mind. Stopping by the famed “Bhoothathankettu Dam”, enjoy a spectacular view of the dam and take pleasure in the low land trekking to the old bhothathan kettu dam with our guide. Then we continue our ride to a stunning resort, Hornbill Camp just on the bank of Periyar River and opposite to the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
Enjoy mouth-watering Kerala cuisine made just right to please your taste buds and from produce sourced from the farms nearby. Walk through the rubber estate, a spice plantation and numerous farms where our guide will be happy to explain the intricacies of farm life. A kayaking trip amidst these great swathes of forests is an ideal sport for those inclined to be adventurous and explore the bio-diversity within these forests.
