Alleppey aka Kuttanad is famous for the backwaters and its paddy fields. The region has the lowest altitude in India, and is one of the few places in the world where farming is carried around 1.2 to 3.0 metres (4 to 10 ft) below sea level. Cycling will give you an experience of the coastal fishing villages and kayaking will give you an insight into the lives of the backwater people.

Day 1: Marari Beach
We will meet you at Fort Kochi, after fixing your cycles we proceed to Marari. As we hit the beach road, the busy streets of Fort Kochi is left behind and we ride along the fishing villages bordered by coconut plantations on one side and the sea on the other side. We reach our destination, a stunning beach villa for lunch. The rest of the time after lunch can be spent on the beach.

Day 2: Pallathuruthy
After breakfast we will start cycling the backroads in Alleppey, a coastal town famous for its backwaters. As we cycle through the small villages and country roads, we get to see how coconut husk is being processed and made into coir mats and ropes. We cycle along the backwaters till we reach a jetty. A wooden canoe will take you to the backwater stay. The evening can be spent by taking a walk through the paddy fields, or meeting the local people or by taking a ride to the village market.
Your vehicle support ends here, from day 3 you will have a support boat for backup and for transferring luggage.

Day 3: Nedumudy
We begin kayaking today. You will be taken to the island of Kavalam paddling through the canals of Pulinkunnu. Kavalam was the headquarters of well to-do agricultural families. The homes you see here are grand and majestic and here too you can experience village life where farming, fishing, shell collection, and duck rearing are the most important means of livelihood. If lucky, you will also be able to see the traditional toddy tappers on coconut palms. After having lunch at a coconut grove, you will kayak and reach an elegant home where a traditional dinner awaits you. Later in the evening, you can walk and enjoy the simplicity and tranquility of a village life.

Day 4: Chathurathyakary
You will continue exploring the backwaters after breakfast. There will be a visit to a Chai Kada (local tea shop) or a spice garden today. After having lunch on the banks of the Vattakayal Lake, you will paddle through the canals and reach back to the heritage home.

Day 5: Kainakary
Today, we will be kayaking through the narrow waterways of Kainakary village, famous for its Snake boat race rowers. Paddling through the blue waters bordered by green coconut groves and paddy fields lend an ambience of unmatched freshness and serenity and the experience is truly rewarding. Kainakary is synonymous with Kettuvallam or houseboats. Once a communist bastion, its literacy rate is top compared to many counterparts. Your overnight stay will be at a traditional Kerala Syrian Christian family house, located on the banks of river Pamba with all modern facilities.
